I have a Win 2000 machine at work, where I use Plucker Desktop

The problem is that Plucker seems to slow down while retrieving
channels. Sometimes it seems to slow down more and more, to the
point where it simply stops. For example, I have a Slashdot
channel (http://slashdot.org, maxdepth 2, don't follow external
link) which contains a lot of links. After a few minutes of
processing, it seems to have stopped at 4 out of 158 files. This
happens most of the time, but sometimes it gets 50+ files before
it stops. And it's not just on Slashdot, it seems to happen on
most sites. Here's the output from my Progress window:
Part of your problem probably is overload of breadth. I find good use of exclusions can help with these. But in the case of Slashdot, I suggest changing your URL to http://slashdot.org/palm and selecting staybelow or limiting the url to the same. Makes for a much more readable pluck too.
