I think /usr/local might not have even existed, or been empty. Not sure
which. It currently exists as a real folder, but that's not to say that it's
always been that way. Too much tinkering to remember... It doesn't have
anything in it other than what I've put in it, though, so it's quite
possible that it was originally a bad symlink, or somesuch.
