Hi All I've just released an alpha version of WinnowNews, a perl script that downloads USENET newsgroups in a form that's suitable for plucking and reading on a small screen. It threads messages alphabetically, removes mime, quotations and most headers in order to make the news easier to read on a small display.
It can't be used for replying/posting but at least now I can read USENET groups on my Zaurus whilst commuting. I've been testing it for a couple of weeks on a Linux machine and it seems to be working well - the only changes that I've made to the base code so far is to improve the formatting of the html. WinnowNews is available at: http://www.ee.usyd.edu.au/~hutton/WinnowNews.html It is alpha and I'd appreciate any feedback from anyone using it. After a few other people have tested it (hopefully without any problems) I'll ask the nice plucker people put a link to it on their links page. ===== -- Ross http://mobile.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo!
