The two versions I'm aware of[1][2] no longer work, and have been
taken down. I did find, however, some very interesting things while poking
around for the URL, one of them pretty suspiscious.
AvantGo uses web bugs to track their users.
Observe one of the urls I found in my logs during an AvantGo sync:
http://logc2.xiti.com/hit.xiti?s=43260&s2=19&p=WWW_mobiles
That's a 1x1 pixel gif, which was sitting on one of their webpages
_after_ it was brought down onto the device. I can't see any valid reason
why that would need to be there.
Three other links that showed up were:
http://js.cybermonitor.com/lemondev3.js
http://195.25.89.17/lemonde_v?total
..and
http://tag.lemonde.fr/tag/tag.js
Two of these has some interesting content:
http://js.cybermonitor.com/lemondev3.js
- ---------------------------------------
<!--
if (CM_CLIENT=='') alert("Please fill in the CM_CLIENT variable in your HTML
code");
cm_arg =
"http://stat3.cybermonitor.com/"+CM_CLIENT+"_v?R="+CM_RUBRIQUE+"&S=total";
cm_arg+="&RF="+escape(document.referrer)+"&A="+escape(Math.random());
i = new Image(1,1);
i.src = cm_arg;
// -->
http://tag.lemonde.fr/tag/tag.js
- --------------------------------
function gotag()
{
}
Both of these links were inside the Lemonde content that was
fetched. I'll keep digging and find the original URL, I'm sure. It's only a
matter of time before I find it.
