Hi Tony, > 1. Which do you suggest us slightly-washed masses (i.e. programmers) > use - > 0.9 or 2.0? Why?
I wrote a note on this here: http://jpluck.sourceforge.net/jpluck2/index.html <quote> If you don't mind editing XML files manually, then you should definitely choose JPluck 2.0. Aside from not being able to edit JXLs in a GUI, JPluck 2.0 is miles ahead of 0.9. If you feel more comfortable using a GUI then you should stick with JPluck 0.9. JPluck 0.9 works well for many people, despite its shortcomings compared to 2.0. </quote> Programmer-types should choose JPluck 2.0. On a related note: I wrote a page on why you should consider using jEdit to edit your JXLs.: http://jpluck.sourceforge.net/jpluck2/docs/jedit.html > 2. How long are you going to be away from 2.0? Would it be useful > for me or someone else to write a quick-n-dirty GUI for the new JXL > editing in the meantime? I'm embarking on a commercial project for the next few months and I'm going to need all the time I can find. (I probably won't be able to restrain myself from updating JPluck 2 with small tweaks and fixes, though.) Actually, my intention in documenting the JXL format was to "inspire" people to write their own tools. You can write an editor or other tool using any good XML library(and not just in Java). You have the JXL DTD and the reference to guide you. > 3. I have several email addresses for you, The address I use on this list is the current one.
