I haven't seen this answer yet, so I'll propose it..
Why not just mount a network drive, and set your pluckerhome to
point to that location instead? Why duplicate files? Just use Samba, NFS, or
if you must, rsync the data over when it's been modified on the other
system.
Having to retain two copies of what essentially is the same data,
can be tedious, especially if someone on the "other" system modifies it even
slightly.
