One good thing to come from the subject-line arguments is that we learned what software was being used to manage the list.
It turns out that the current version of mailman already has code to replace multipart/alternative messages with the plaintext. I suspect this would be welcomed by most, and I know it would be helpful for those of us reading the digest. MimeDel.py will strip out the Mime portion - but only if filter_content is set to true for the list in question.
