Possibly.  But it still shouldn't crash, so if you can repeat 
it, it is a python (or MicroSoft Visual C) bug, and should 
be reported (with the specific MSVCRT.DLL address) to 
the python bug tracker at

The current python versions are 2.2.3 (stable) and 2.3.2 (recent).
