I believe that Plucker Desktop doesn't support cookies; in that case, you're out of 
luck as one cannot move on the NYT site without a cookie (which contains your 
registered username and password) ...

However, the other desktop (JPluck) does support cookies and the NYT site works well, 
although you do have to have accessed the NYT site with a browser first as its cookie 
provides input to JPluck.
