Another method:

http://dcs.nac.uci.edu/~strombrg/pdftopdb.html

It converts each page to an image, builds an HTML document that shows
all the images, and converts the HTML to .pdb.

It's not great for text-heavy conversions (you end up scrolling around a
lot), but I've found it works well for diagrams.

I keep dreaming someday there will be a .pdf to .pdb conversion process
that will do normal plucker text but also provide a link to view a high
res bitmap version of the same text, formatted as originally intended.
