OpenStreetMap is an "open data" mapping project based on data contributed by volunteer editors all over the world. It can be used as a free alternative to software like Google Maps, and the data sets are available to download and experiment with. Keith will show examples of working with this data using a PostgreSQL database and the PostGIS extension for geographic data processing. He will demonstrate visualizations of map and spatial data both on the desktop and in a web browser.
