If you do have nepomuk (akonadi is for connectors to various PIM) turned off because it ate your system alive in the past, and you are using KDE 4.10, go ahead and turn it back on. With KDE 4.10 it has been totally rewritten and is very very light on the system now.

You'll also want to click the little wrench on the prompt (krunner) that pops up with alt+f2 and make sure nepomuk is enabled.
