Thanks Alexander,

I'm thinking this will do the job

All of my hardware is old. I am thinking of an upgrade in 12 - 18 months and at that point will probably replace my router and WIFI.... Not sure if I will need to have 2 or more static IPs Most of my work is PHP programming on a private network using non-routable domains using the .internal TLD and I use the hosts files for DNS.

I've run a LAMP+mail+BIND+etc using port forwarding. I do not see that in my future.

Most of what I do is oriented toward PHP/MySQL... I use Linux to that ends.

Thank You So Much For Your Help!!
Keith

Any Netgear managed L3 switch will do. Sync with me offline and I

Hi,

I home office and have a home office Internet connection which
allows me
to run servers.

I am using a consumer grade router that has WIFI and 4 RJ11
ports.
Currently I need 6 RJ11 connects. Not everything is turned on
all
the
time.

My research suggests I add a network switch to the mix.

I assume I would keep the connection to the modem to the router
and
connect one of the RJ11 ports to a switch and connect all my
devices
to
the switch, leaving the other 3 RJ11 ports on my router not
connected.

If this is actuate, any suggestions on a "consumer" grade 10
ports
switch? Or would a more commercial switch be better?

Thank you so much!!
Keith
