That depends on zoning. And that depends on what kind of tax subsidies they
want to give these guys. And that depends on how many hands need to be greased
along the way.

The Reno Tahoe Industrial Center came about when a guy who bought a big chunk
of swamp land in southern Reno developed half of it and sold the rest for a
hefty profit, then turned around and became the largest land owner in Storey
County. He then became the County Commissioner responsible for issuing every
kind of permit needed to do anything in the county. It was just a bunch of
empty desert and nobody cared what he did, so he was able to issue permits for
stuff wihin 24 hours, which made it a very attractive deal for a lot of
companies looking at 6-12 month permitting cycles in Cali, AZ, and other
western states. They sold out in half the time they expected, with the last
buyers picking up all of the unsold land in one fell swoop — and said buyers
reportedly paid in crypto currency rumored to be “in the ninie figures” (I
heard around $250M). Do you think anybody cared about any of this?

(The buyers of that big chunk of land are software devs tied to ETH somehow.)
