Just apt-get remove it :) KDE's system settings should automatically use the 
next device down (presumably your ALSA device) when it realizes that the 
pulseaudio device is broken.

The only trick comes when your hardware doesn't support mixing, when you 
should try dmix. Googling around will find you a quick howto for dmix.
