I have a embedded ECU that I have to program and I have been doing it with an older laptop that still has a serial port. I would like to use one of my newer laptops but the last time I tried buying a serial-to-usb convertor at Frys Electronics I ended up with one that I just could not get to function in Linux. Can anyone recommend a brand or model to me and possibly a place that stocks such a thing? If it was local I would have better chance of returning it if it did not work.
