All your problems can be solved by qmail as i have done many setup like yours one on Qmail and i havent uese Sendmail that much so Just Check out the docs of sendmail for Smarthost, mail routing !!
So using qmail & smarthost, mails to [EMAIL PROTECTED] will be automagically routed to either the local mailserver or the external mailserver depending on whether a.b is in office ? How ?
