Yup, everytime a n00b comes out and asks this, the nerds go off on
their PR campaigns... apt is for you, slackware rocks, blah blah
blah...

What I would say (yep, another blah blah) to people who ask this kinda
question: Dude, get Mandrake or Suse, they're very 'luser-friendly' (I
use Mandrake myself) but keep Windows around as a dual boot, for times
when you screw up your installation and need to check your e-mail
now...

You can either pay for broadband and download the latest distros and
updates, or pay for commercial CDs like those that Mandrake or Suse
provide, avoid crap like Xandros, Linspire etc etc (again, when I say
'crap' thats just my opinion/blah)
