Linux Wacom Project has couple of guides on configuring tablets, may not be specific to Ubuntu. There are a couple of mailing lists as well. I had trouble with my Toshiba Tablet Laptop (Satellite R-10) when I bought it about 5 years back. I found that mailing list very useful in the initial stages as well as when I changed distribution from Mandrake to OpenSuse and also during upgrades to wacom drivers over the years.
