Not that the standards didn't exist before. But why do we have this era of
"IE only" sites?

Are things going to be different on the browser interoperability front
with adoption of HTML 5?

Any views on this?


Tim Berners-Lee said this in 1996 though not much really changed on this
front:

"Anyone who slaps a 'this page is best viewed with Browser X' label on a
Web page appears to be yearning for the bad old days, before the Web, when
you had very little chance of reading a document written on another
computer, another word processor, or another network."
