Can your bios on the laptop tell you that you can boot from CDROM/SATA/USB/SDCARD ? Most of the embedded devices have u-boot installed on the SD cards which initialize the cpu and peripherals of the boards. So have you compile the u-boot for x86 platform boards. Their are boot.src or boot.ini files which help guide bootup the boards.
