In my experience, which is quite extensive when it comes to getting i3 work on fedora with a nvidia GPU, is that screen tearing happens in the presence of: 1. incorrect driver installation, 2. having multiple versions of a driver installed at the same time, 3. having no driver at all. -- Tejas Sanap.
