The only redhat-compatible distro i know that has XFree 4.0 is Mandrake 7.1,
which is currently in beta right now. Go to the http://www.linux-mandrake.com
for details on how to get the ISO.
Since you intend to run bleeding edge X anyway, why not go ahead and get all of
yourself wet and not just your feet \8)
The mandrake distro contains both the latest KDE and Helix-GNOME, so you're
bound for quite a treat.
I know that this does not answer your question directly, but you'll be solving
a lot of head-scratching due to interoperability issues and performance
problems by going with the pre-packaged stuff, rather than rolling your own.
