Is it really being so absolutely dominated by Microsoft? Last I checked proprietary Unices like Solaris and AIX still collectively hold a bigger chunk of the enterprise server market than Windows and GNU/Linux put together. > Does it mean: > > 1. Not a single Linux install is being used on enterprise level This is certainly not true. Our company's own client portfolio is proof to the contrary. > 2. Major ERP and database applications are not running on Linux Also not true, as again we do have clients who do this sort of thing on GNU/Linux, and they are pleased with the results. > 3. In these companies, it would seem that proprietary Unix is still king for most of their really mission-critical stuff, and it is actually Windows that is fairly rare in their data centers. Every major ISP in this country it would seem, uses GNU/Linux in some capacity; many actually use it to run the bulk of their infrastructure. -- Capitalism requires people to be quiet souls in the workplace and wild pagans at the cash register. http://stormwyrm.blogspot.com/ _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
