so do my OpenBSD 3.6. it takes a mere 13 sec from boot
loader to tty. p3 600, Abit BH-6, 512MB, Matrox G400,
Seagate 36GB 15K cheetah, Adaptec SCSI controller.

on the other hand...

23 sec on RHEL 4 AS installed in AMD athlon 3200+,
Asus mobo, 512 DDR 333, 40GB Maxtor ATA 133/100, intel
pro LAN, Nvidia 128 MB. (kudzu disabled)

on the laptop.

45 Sec on Compaq 2124AD p4 mobile 2 GHz, 512 RAM, 40
GB HD, plugged in (not in baterries). running the 9.3
SuSe pro.

soon... or not at all.

SGI 02 IRIX box, sun sparcstation 20. alpha 2664 LX.
p133. IBM thinkpad 760 XL. mac g3. mac g4 laptop. i
have no time.
