Wel, I tried plugging my CD-RW and DVD-RW drive to the PATA interface of my USB HDD Enclosure. After turning on the power and plugging it to a USB port, it was detect as a USB mass storage device and I was able to burn CDs and DVDs using that method. No problems except CPU usage was higher compared to plugging it directly to PATA interface (expected since even USB 2.0 doesn't have DMA).
