I have posted in this thread about this kind of network solution before. My thought was to just buy 2 PCI WAPg cards, and then let the one PC be the "server" while the other as "client." Paolo F. has mentioned also that there's an app available that will make the other one a server. I haven't implemented it yet though. But if somebody has tried this, maybe s/he can share regarding the performance of such setup.

btw my previous suggestion about a WRT54g is not good because the WRT54g in the market (at least in pcxpress) is Version 5 which AFAIK can't be changed to OpenWRT.  The WAP54g as builtin bridging capability in the original firmware.

dsl to a non dsl enabled area.and were talking here kilometers in range and not
just meters.
for more than a year and got no problem

so go for wifi bridge that you can find.
