It is not really an issue since only small part of the system memory is
taken away. For a system with 1024x768 resolution and 16-bit colour
depth you will only need 1.57MB, according to 
"The Definitive BIOS Optimization Guide"[1][2][3][4].

I gather that 128MB is the minimum memory size nowadays.
