Just check the hardware specs of the target server and
google around for incompatibilities with your fave
distro.
The only 1U server using off-the-shelf components I've
seen is from Mozcom. Are there others?
at the risk of seeming off-topic those mozcom servers sure are cheap :)
i don't think you can get a 1U anywhere cheaper. of course, like all lunches, it's not free: the reason for the cheapness is specifically because it uses off-the-shelf components.
