the driver you've just compiled is most likely to be specific
for the "vanilla" kernel (it is the one that we download at
kernel.org), and not for RH/Clone-ized kernel. if you're not
using any of those RH-ized enterprise linux kernel modules,
replaced it with a vanilla kernel. or if you're lucky, try to read
source code's Makefiles and check if you need a little tweaking
before compiling it and making it work on EL kernels.
