Fellow PLUGgers, I recently blogged[1] about using Globe Visibility on Debian GNU/Linux. Visibility is Globe's unlimited 3.5G/EDGE/GPRS Internet service, similar to PLDT WeRoam (although I'm not sure about 3.5G in WeRoam).
[1] http://jijo.free.net.ph/25 Does anyone on the list presently use a GPRS Internet service regularly on GNU/Linux? I'm trying to figure out what causes the PPP sessions to stall, on what initially looks like a random basis. Like I blogged, it doesn't seem to be caused by signal strength (or lack thereof), bandwidth use, idle time, or connection time. The link just stalls, but pppd can't detect this since GPRS (or at least Globe Visibility) doesn't provide valid LCP echo replies. My objective is to be able to set things up so that Globe Visibility can become a reliable enough always-on Internet service for a laptop, and maybe even for remote offices where neither DSL nor dial-up make sense. Tips, anyone? Cheers! --> Jijo -- Federico Vicente C.
