Maybe after the module gets obsolete :) I'll try to throw some open source CMS for mobile later when i get back from vacation and if my boss will agree -- its our obsolete version :). A bit rough on the edges but its well structured patterned to drupal allowing you also to code PHP directly as a content.
It's really hard to put an open source project once you're in a corporate environment because indirectly what you have learned while working there are part of the company's investments.

memcache is a good way sharing information between distributed applications too other than just using them as cache, just make sure one system writes while the others just read the data or implement a semaphore scheme.
