debian is good. i've used it before, i switched to gentoo. debian is just not modern enough for most people. apt is an excelllent package management system--- next to portage (which is the most powerful in the world) that is. ubuntu is stable enough for production server i think though most will stick to traditional debian when going to server space.
Hopefully, the notion that "Ubuntu is just for desktops" would be squashed when Ubuntu server comes out in June. It's supported for 5 years and even comes with a LAMP install option. Ubuntu 6.06 LTS will be supported 3 years for desktops and 5 years for servers. For Edgy, we will go back to the 18 month support till the codebase stabilizes again. -- Jerome Gotangco [EMAIL PROTECTED] | [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mobile: +639196555242 GPG: 0xA97B69A0 _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
