I have a question about kubuntu dapper. I used to run mandriva 2005 LE and my modem runs correctly on kppp. When I try to use kpp from console mode, I get a message that about RemoveLock on the modem in console. Hmmm, KPPP should be able to get a lock to your modem unless some other program has a lock on it first. Most dialers implement UUCP-style locking, so you should look at your /var/lock directory for `LCK..modem' or `LCK..ttyS0' (to N) files. If one exists, and you think no other program is using your modem, then you can delete those files. You should then be able to use KPPP as normal. Stale lockfiles can also occur if KPPP or some other dialer dies without cleaning up properly. Again, deleting those stale lockfiles should help. Cheers, Zakame -- Zak B.
