Take back the tech!
Interconnections between Violence Against Women and ICTs
The
Association for Progressive Communications Women's Networking Support
Programme (APC WNSP) is issuing out a call to Take Back the Tech!
during a panel at the KnowHow Conference being held in Mexico City from
August 23-26. Feminists will share their stories and thoughts about how
women can take control of technology to challenge violence against women.
Share strategies how individuals -- woman, feminist, writer, web user,
activist, librarian or in any capacity to help challenge VAW on the
internet?
Take back the tech is a space for conversation and action: how thinking about domestic violence will reshuffle the urgency around online privacy and security issues; how cyberstalking might transform the political landscape of communication rights; how women use ICTs to mobilise against feminicide. The APC WNSP hopes this participatory dialogue at Know How will further catalyse concrete action on the important connection between violence against women and the development of ICTs. APC WNSP members at Know How are blogging to provide coverage of the debate. http://www.apcwomen.org/eng_index.shtml
