Whose the "One"? No really i have to ask this, its wishful thinking if we will think that somebody will burn cds without asking anything for any consideration. Not unless youre mark shuttleworth. You could request one and wait for the free CD to arrive 6-7 weeks. The thing is there is no One. In case there is a One that burn cds for free, he must be a friend, relative or aquantance. Yes there are people will gladly burn opensource operating systems like UP-IT or DOST-ASTI but its your cd and how about the softwares? the guy like openoffice or GIMP. Lets say there is a One that will burn cd and distribute them for free, but do you think pc users might accept them? those blank cd-r with a hand marked marker saying linux. Of course no one is going to trust that fellow distributing cd on the street, the cd may have a virus or hack or something, not unless that One prints documentation and labels for the cds. Why not? he already covered the cd expenses why not add the press expenses. So not until a business establishment is going to interfere(a trusted entity), for you to be able to get a FOSS software is look for a friend who has a cd-burner and know something about FOSS, or download it yourself. It his problem if he has no internet connection, why did he bought the pc in the first place, get yourselves an internet connection. Okay we can see the case study situation above, as we can see, we also promote open source to discourage software piracy, but the thing is, its easier to obtain a pirated proprietary software copy than a legitimate FOSS. I wish this issue is addressed in the Opensource bill if its not too late. -- _______________________________________________ Get your free email from http://www.graffiti.net Powered By Outblaze _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
