The posters complaining are naive.

Yes, for the skill set being asked by the original poster, a salary of
20K to 30K is on the low side.

It is not, however (to my knowledge) grossly exploitative. For the
following reason: all recruiters OVERSTATE their job requirements.
Obviously, for the salary level being offered, they are NOT going to
get someone who meets all their requirements.

Besides the self-righteous whining and "brain drain" crap is just that
-- crap. Nobody is asking YOU to work for that amount of money.

Believe it or not, there are many, many Linux people in the provinces
who may have a sufficient skill set and might be willing to work for
that amount of money.

The bottom line is: wala namang pumipilit sa inyo na magtrabaho for
that amount of money. End of story.

If you feel bad because you applied to the job and felt insulted by
the offer, then welcome to the club. That's happened to me many times.
I once got an offer that was 30% LESS than my then-current
compensation and the prospect employer wanted to know when I would
start?!!

But the point is, it's a free country. Just as you can choose whom to
work for and for how much, employers are free to offer whatever they
can afford, or even less.
