You can use sql statement (not myisamchk) also

mysql> REPAIR TABLE tablename

its useful when used with a port forwading script since you will get the
status of the table repair, if error is detected just have the script
execute:

iptables -A PREROUTING -d this_machine_ip -p tcp -m tcp --dport 3306   -j
DNAT --to-destination backup_machine:3306

and make sure to issue FLUSH TABLES after REPAIR
