Best distro for gaming? I guess almost all distros are suited for gaming. But I think this is a question of "what kind of hardware should I be using for gaming?". >I'm trying to setup a > gameserver and I dont have any idea what's best to be used.. Game Server... now this is partly hardware related. I don't think you're users would be satisfied with the performance if you have P2/P3-512MB. Also look into the bandwidth. You should at least have 1Mbps upstream broadband connection. As for the distro, I highly advise you install a source-based distro like Gentoo, or even Source Mage, for performance reasons. Stock installs aren't really preferred since you'll need as much optimization as you can get from both your OS and your hardware. > Im planning to have Unreal tournament, css, battlefield 1942.. mga ganun... I don't think there's a package for Unreal Tournament, CSS, and Battlefield 1942. But that's just me, I don't really know since I'm not fond of Windows games. However, if there's no Linux package, then don't serve those games in emulation mode even if it works (mostly Cedega) since it'll hog your resources. Well, actually you can, but it's not recommended. You'll only frustrate your users. -- Dax Solomon Umaming http://knightlust.com/ GPG: 0x715C3547
