It's probably non-trivial to compile stuff with the Intel compiler. Oracle TimesTen product is currently compiled with GCC (hence... slower than Solaris X86 or Windows version) and will only be compiled with Intel C Compiler in the next version. It's a lot of work..
Linux kernel is probably full of #pragmas and what-not which are GCC-specific. But this is one reason why commercial OS often show better performance than Linux on the same hardware.
