For the Slackware aficionados out there, can you confirm
if slackpkg is a dependency checking system or just a
quick way to look for slackware packages online?

I had not noticed its inclusion into Slackware (could have
been a long time ago), but if it works like what it seems
to be (no dependency checking), it's certainly a great
addition very much in keeping with the spirit of Slack.

Getting packages from a mirror via wget is actually pretty
easy, but slackpkg should streamline this process even more
while keeping with the user-in-full-control idea.

I have noticed that the more I use Slackware, the *less*
need I have for any sort of automatic dependency checking
and the more it is revealed for the artificial crutch and
gunk-inducing mechanism that it is.

The key to avoiding this, I believe is very smart factoring
of packages which Slackware's founder seems to be very good at.
