Well, not necessarily, if the data is signed. The receiving end could
always verify a K packet and either DROP or REJECT it if it fails an
authenticity test. (DISCLAIMER: I dont follow the news)

The one problem I mentioned though, is if the receiving end itself is
untrusted, and this kind of relationship holds for perhaps even 30% of
the network, the resulting web of distrust might flood the network
with resends and eventually cause all K nodes to DROP all packets and
revert to manual fallback.
