You can't really compare a DSL to a T1 line. A run-off-the-mill [a]DSL line
usually has way lower upload than download. From the point of view of your
servers, they'll have less bandwidth to transmit with.
One alternative is to get one or more Virtual Private Servers. For the amount
you're paying now, you could probably get a few decent VPS providers abroad
with faster-than-T1 bandwidth.
Or, renegotiate your T1 subscription.
