I tend to agree. Seems that CPAN shell tends to assume that you are "root", My 
install from CPAN shell failed  because it tends to install it on the directory 
where bundled perl libs are installed ( somewhere near /opt). Unfortunately, I 
they are owned by root, and I have qualms on running things as root.

Does CPAN have a option where you can set the install path (something like 
PREFIX=.... in using ./configure) ?
