Some options:

[1] wget -S -v -t 0 -c http://remote-host/2GB-file.bin

[2.1] dr...@server:~$ nc -l -p 65530 | dd of=/dev/null
        5071224+0 records in
        5071224+0 records out
        2596466688 bytes (2.6 GB) copied, 16.1254 s, 161 MB/s
        dr...@server:~$

[2.2] dr...@client:~$ dd if=/dev/zero bs=4096 count=1048576 | nc SERVER 65530
        ^C 633906+0 records in
        633906+0 records out
        2596478976 bytes (2.6 GB) copied, 9.90921 s, 262 MB/s
        dr...@client:~$

Disclaimer: this dd + nc test was actually on my localhost :)

[3] Section 4 of http://www.netperf.org/netperf/training/Netperf.html
(been using this for 12 years now, I think?)

[4] /usr/bin/ftp
