In addition to TryStack that Jerome mentioned, you can try out Red Hat's
OpenStack offering: https://openstack.redhat.com/Quickstart . It's pretty
easy to deploy a single-node OpenStack cloud, which you can scale
afterwards.

Or, if you want to get your feet wet on a "full-on" cloud infrastructure,
with all the bells and whistles of load balancers, distributed file system,
etc., check out AWS CloudFormation. AWS offers a free tier, but
CloudFormation is not part of it. The try-out costs should be pretty
minimal though.
