   And the reason cell phones are supposed to be off is that they pass over
cells so quickly that the ground network has a difficult time trying to keep
up with the changes. Nothing to do with aircraft safety. Of course, many of
us have forgotten to turn off the phones and there's been no problems with
the flights.

   Similar lack of truth with the "water landing" instructions.
