I'd like some guidance on setting up the new Asus WL-520GC WAP/Router. The
instruction manual is totally useless -- in 23 languages, no less! -- as it
servers only to tell readers how to insert the Windows 'EZ Setup' disk in
their Windows computer and launch it from the startup menu. As useful as a
rubber crutch for those of us not running a Microsoft OS.

A Google search turned up the default IP address (192.168.1.1), username
(admin) and user password (admin). This information is not in the
instruction manual.

I've tried to reach the Asus via the Web browser on my notebook using a
ethernet cable from my notebook to either the WAN or LAN1 ports on the Asus.
Neither will load the admin login page.

The notebook's eth0 is configured for the local network. If I'm accessing
the Asus via a http connection does this matter? Should I be opening a file
named 192.168.1.1 rather than a http connection?

A clue stick or three would be quite helpful at this point.

TIA,

Rich
