IIRC, there are a number of bugs related to wicd and hidden networks, esp related to encryption. The following google seems to confirm: wicd "hidden network" Other question -- I know I see hidden networks with an empty SSID when I run the following command in RHEL 6 and Ubuntu 10.04 iwlist wlan0 scan If that command reveals hidden networks, you probably can set up a connection manually with some variation of iwconfig.
