Probable cause ... failing monitor
Reasonable solutions ... get a new one
one could send it in for repair, but that is normally more expensive
than a new one.
repair usually amounts to putting a new monitor in the old case, or
most of a new monitor anyway.
That has been my experience so far with ...
    LCD
    LED
    CRT
... although the older CRT models could be worked on a bit more than the
later ones.
Hope that helps
